Born from expeierence

SEN in the City was born from community.

I was incredibly fortunate to be part of an amazing group of SEN mums — and especially inspired by one incredible SEND mum who created a space where we could be honest, vulnerable and open about the raw, real tribulations of being a SEN parent.

There was no judgement. No pretending. Just truth. Exhaustion. Laughter. Tears. Advice at midnight. Voice notes sent from hospital corridors.

That space showed me how powerful it is when parents feel safe enough to say, “I’m struggling.” It also showed me how hard it is to find someone who truly fits your child’s needs — someone who just gets it. Behind every strong SEN parent is someone who has cried in the car, questioned themselves, and carried more than they should have to.

From that space, SEN in the City was formed — to create something that blends lived experience with professional understanding. A place that connects families to trusted support, but also holds space for the parent behind the paperwork. 🤍

What We Do

SEN in the City connects families with trusted, SEN-aware professionals who genuinely understand children with additional needs.

We bring together DBS-checked professionals offering:

• SEN Tutoring 📚

• Speech & Language Therapy

• Occupational Therapy

• ESLA Sessions

• Music & Swim Lessons 🎶🏊‍♂️

• Household and Family Support

We also provide practical guidance with EHCPs, paperwork, budgeting conversations, and preparing for meetings — helping you feel clearer, more confident, and less alone when navigating systems.

Alongside this, we offer something just as important — emotional support for parents and carers.

This is a safe, understanding space where you can talk when you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like you’re not doing enough. Being a SEN parent is heavy at times. Sometimes you just need someone who gets it — not professionally, not clinically — but personally.

Someone who understands the 2am forms. The unfairness. The constant advocacy. The love behind it all. 🤍

“We are SEN parents. We do not break. We bend.” ✨
